The settings and mechanics described here exist in the Blefuj game. House rules that the app does not enforce are clearly labelled.
These are the questions we actually get, and the ones we asked ourselves at the table: about rules, settings, in-game messages, privacy and Premium. Don't see your question? Write to kontakt@blefuj.pl.
What is Blefuj?
It's a party bluffing-and-deduction game you play on one phone in the browser. It has a group mode (Impostor for 3–10 people) and two-player modes (Duo and Mind Leak).
How many people can play?
In the Impostor mode, 3 to 10 people on one device. The Duo and Mind Leak modes are for exactly 2 people.
Is the game free?
Yes. The basic game is free and needs no account or login. We're also planning an optional Premium that will add categories and secret packs and remove ads; for now it's in preparation.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The game runs instantly in your phone's browser. You can also add it to your home screen as an app: on Android the browser offers to install it, on iPhone tap Share, choose “Add to Home Screen” and confirm with Add.
Do you play on one phone?
Yes. The phone travels around the group or sits in the middle of the table. You don't need separate devices or a shared online room.
What does the impostor see?
It depends on the hint mode. “No hints”: only that they are the impostor. “Hint for the impostor”: additionally a vague clue such as “Something related to food”. “Hints for everyone”: the impostor still sees the vague clue, while civilians get a clearer description next to the word. In the Chaos variant the impostor sees their own, similar word plus a warning that it may differ from everyone else's.
Why can't I set 2 impostors with 5 players?
Because two impostors could outvote three civilians and the game would stop being fair. The app enforces the limits: 1 impostor with 3–5 players, up to 2 with 6–8, up to 3 with 9–10. If you lower the player count, the impostor count drops to the allowed maximum by itself.
How is the Chaos variant different from Classic?
In Classic the impostor doesn't know the word and has to bluff. In Chaos they get a similar but different word (say, civilians have “Pizza”, the impostor “Taco”) and talk about it honestly, not knowing how it differs. The result screen shows both words.
The game says we've used all the words in a category. What now?
Words don't repeat within one session, so after many rounds the chosen category's pool can run out (faster on Hard or in Family Mode, where the pool is smaller). Choose “Change category” or “Start a fresh pool”, which draws from the beginning again. Words hidden with “Do not show this word again” stay hidden.
I closed the game mid-round. Can I get back to it?
Yes. When you reopen the game screen you'll be asked whether to resume the unfinished round. For privacy, a revealed role is never shown again after a refresh: the game returns to the pass-the-phone screen. In Mind Leak an interrupted round isn't resumed, because that could leak the secret.
We drew a word that doesn't suit us. What can I do?
The result screen has two buttons: “Do not show this word again” hides it on this device, and “Report issue with this word” additionally saves a report, also locally only. Nothing is sent to a server. If you'd like us to fix a word in the database, write to kontakt@blefuj.pl.
What does Family Mode do?
It limits the pool to simple, safe words (easy and medium) and switches off categories that don't suit family play, e.g. Brands. If the selected category is unavailable, the game asks you to pick another.
What is Mind Leak about?
It's a two-player mode: one person knows a secret and acts out 5 scenarios as if it were true, without saying it outright. The other may ask one short question after each scenario and finally picks the real secret from 3 options.
How is Mind Leak scored?
A series has 5 rounds, and in each one the app draws afresh who knows the secret. The Secret holder gets a bluff point when the secret survives, the Detective a detection point when they catch it. After the series the screen names the Bluff master and the Secret detector, or a tie.
Can I play in Polish and English?
Yes. The interface, words and secrets are available in Polish and English, you switch the language with one tap, and the guide pages have separate addresses in both languages.
Is my data safe?
Free play needs no account and collects no personal data. Names, words, secrets and votes stay on your device. Anonymous analytics is off by default and runs only after you consent, and Google ads are governed by Google's certified consent message. The privacy policy has the details.
Is Premium a subscription?
No. When Premium becomes available it's planned as a one-time payment, no subscription, no renewals. The free game always remains available.
I found a bug or have an idea. Where do I write?
To kontakt@blefuj.pl. We read every message and usually reply within a few business days. For a specific word, it helps to mention the category it appeared in.
