This guide describes rules and mechanics actually available in the Blefuj game.
Not every party game works for two, this one does. Blefuj has modes designed specifically for 2 people: Mind Leak, where one of you bluffs while the other guesses a secret, and Duo, where you check whether you had the same word. Perfect for a date, a night in or a trip.
Modes for two
- Mind Leak, bluff and deduction: one knows a secret, the other guesses it.
- Duo “same / different word”, you guess whether you had the same word.
How Mind Leak works
In Mind Leak, one person is the Secret holder and knows the secret; the other is the Detective and does not. The secret holder plays through short scenarios as if the secret were true, but must never say it outright. The Detective listens for suspicious details, asks short follow-up questions, and finally picks the real secret from 3 options.
Example scenarios
Scenarios are concrete situations to act out aloud, they never reveal the secret. Examples:
- “Someone tells a joke that's only a little funny. How do you react?”
- “You're planning an evening together. What do you suggest first?”
- “Someone asks how your day went. What do you say?”
Duo: same or different word
In Duo mode each of you sees a word. Sometimes they're identical, sometimes similar but different. You chat by giving clues and guess whether you had the same word. It's a light, quick game, great as a warm-up.
An example Mind Leak round
The secret holder gets a secret and a scenario: “Someone suggests a spontaneous weekend trip. How do you react?” They answer as if the secret were true, without saying it. The Detective probes one detail, catches a moment of hesitation, and finally picks the secret from 3 options. Play a best-of-5 series and count the hits, a tie goes to a decider.
Common mistakes
- The secret holder over-shares and reveals a detail, stay general.
- The Detective asks only yes/no questions, ask “how?” and “why?”.
- In Duo you give clues that are too obvious and instantly know everything.
- You play just one round, a series and a rematch are the fun part.
Variants for two
- Best-of-5: first to 3 correct guesses wins.
- Swap roles each round, both try bluffing and detecting.
- Express mode: only 2 scenarios, then a quick guess.
- Themed night: one favourite category all evening.
Safe categories for a date
For a relaxed night for two, light, uncontroversial themes work well, everyday situations, travel, home. Leave the cheekier sets for later, once you've found your rhythm.
Ideas for a night for two
- Play a few Mind Leak rounds and count who cracks the secret more often.
- Warm up with Duo, then move on to Mind Leak.
