How many people and how long
A single Impostor round usually takes 3–6 minutes, so in half an hour you'll fit several games and swap categories. In the two-player modes a round is even shorter, which makes “just one more” easy. The exact setup, impostor count, timers and categories, depends on your group size.
An example plan for the evening
Warm-up: two Duo rounds for pairs, or Impostor with an easy category. Mid-evening: 4–5 Impostor rounds with rotating categories and scoring. Finale: the “last chance” variant, where a caught impostor can bounce back by guessing the word. The whole thing fits comfortably in 30–40 minutes.
